Istanbul - 20 days of sitting, waiting
Yesterday Yuri and I decided - it's time for us to leave this city. By 15:30 today we'll take the ferry to a city south of Istanbul, Yalova, from where on we decide whether we will leave the visa be and continue our tour till we've seen all of Turkey, or whether we will return to Istanbul later on to pick up our one way ticket to Persia. If there will be a ticket available for us of course. Without getting in to details - if you're planning to get a visa for Iran, prepare for a bit of patience.

I am sorry to hear that a visa procedure is slowing you down. Although I do not know exactly how it happened that you are waiting for such a long time for your visa, I know how people in 'the east' can make you think you need to wait only 'a few more days', and you end up waiting a month. If I were you I would continue cycling and find a way to be able to know when your visa are ready (perhaps a phone call every week). One of you can then take a bus or train (or whatever can take you across Turkey fast and cheaply) to pick them up. This way you are not really 'waiting' and you can enjoy your time on the bicycle.
